Several live performances during this release proved that an upgrade was needed for the next album as the live shows were much more deep and rich sounding. this release preserved the original recordings.

I own a monotron!

I had to make a trip to get it. They had two so hicksoncompact got one as well. smaller than you would think (even after watching countless videos). Also if you are buying it from guitar center expect that someone has played with it (can't blame them though). Did not get a chance to check out rytmik today but like I said "I own a monotron!".

I mostly played it through the little speaker today. I did also have a quick look at the manual...when it was my turn to hold notes on the ribbon. the manual explained a 30 second warm up time is the reason for no sound when you turn it on.

Once we were at hcg's house we hooked one up to a small battery powered vox amp and ran the monotron through a space echo.....even his 3 year old son could not stop twisting knobs. Buy it or charge it like i did....just get one as soon as the answer is yes it is in stock.

will post something of value about it soon.

This song has been our anthem of all things portable since the late 90's Enjoy. I made this song using an old boss drum machine, two boss digital delays lots of twisting of all the knobs as a live performance, then overdubbed the shit out of the vocals.
The original recording was on a cd recorder. Once the boss br-532 came out we added the overdub vocals as i did not yet own a personal computer -that had an operating system (let alone a daw). This was our hit at the live shows and we always opened with it. We did not now it at the time but giving a 100 percent for the first song and then doubling that each additional song was too much! we eventually were just yelling out of time and seeing who would be the loudest. This is actually funny because the first time we played it live there was no lyrics and i gave tony a mic and said just scream, i've got the music. That was at a place called camp gay in chicago The next time we played it miss anna log and angel ledezma were with us at the fireside. the lyrics we gotta we gotta were the only salvagable words from the 8mm video (the video also has dancing bananas a homemade t-shirt song stage diving markers with circuit bent casios and of course speak and spells.....A reunion idea has been tossed around quite a bit......

I was walking down a side street off of Michigan Ave. when JVV says " those guys where holding sex pistols and Pil albums" My thought was - is vinyl that rare? she adds that the guys where at a church. Ok something is weird at the same time realizing that there is a hotel across the street and she notices a tour bus and i checked on the concert app on the 3gs P/I/L at the house of blues. this all happened in about 10 seconds. we walked back to the guys and talked briefly. a few minutes went by out came the sharpies and the 3gs again....here is the video from that point.

I was just about to post that I have been in contact with Blue about the mikey and how it is not working with my os4 on 3gs, when I decided to plug it in again. It works...2x.

Blue just confirmened in an email that it does work with os4 NOT IPHONE 4.

also the new mikey will be out officially august 20th and will work with os4 as well again not iphone4 or ipad.

I just had a chat with a.m.s. about the mikey2. they will email tomorrow on which operating systems the mic will be available for. i asked blue some time ago and they said all current operating systems at it's release and future. but we all know how annoying that popup screen about the device not working is. if it will work on os4, i will buy and review soon!

Reel director is so easy to use that you can literally record video, pull video from your photo roll, use stills and mix with fades and titles then upload to youtube, all on the go........but wait were do you add the audio? you need a laptop. with the new vericorder app "1st video" it can mix video and multitrack audio. PROS
- I have tried to use a line level in thru the mic input and it does work -it is just a mic input so the volume input on the camcorder needs to be minimum and the ouput of the gadget needs to be low to medium to avoid line level distortion (or a attenuator can be used).
- there is a low voltage output for phantom mics.
- neither my dsi or my iphone have damage from the voltage....
- the video quality (on macro) does quite well for video on the iphone as you can hold the phone on it's side and the camcorder shoots in hd widescreen.
- i'm testing the different video settings right now. there is web ready wvga, 720p, 720p/60fps and 1080p hd
- i used a two gb microcenter sd card that i believe is class 2. it works great. i need a much larger card as 10minutes=1gb.
-for blogging and my first impression is that this could be a new standard. I'm really impressed. out of the box I was worried that i had purchased another aiptek style toy (i may have, but it does what i want).

CONS
These are things that can't be overlooked, but are minute.
-the camera needs a gorilla or tripod and can't stand at all on it's own.
-fingerprints!
- red light next to lens glares on the recorded gadget (like most cameras).
- really big dumb sticker on the front (i'm guessing it is removable, but you have 90 days from target.....)
-comes with usb charging cable with a sticker that shows only charge from the a/c adapter.

QUESTIONS I WILL LOOK INTO
-can the rechargeable battery act as an a/c cord while charging?
-why can't u charge from usb?
-which video setting is best for web?

*I have been in contact with Kodak and they say not to use the mic in as a line level (so you have been warned) I have done it as have several youtuber's and bloggers. i will not say it is ok, however will upload videos of me doing it.
*I have been recommended to use a attenuator (pad-build your own or buy one) of 10db. by both a sound tech (at work who may have been guessing) and bloggers.
*here is a video of the zi8 with line in from synth to an h2 to kodak zi8:this video is made by rotosphere2000 and can be found on youtube (thanks for the help on this purchase!)

The first michael nervous 100% korg ds 10 album was complete may 2009. The album title is "mchl nrvs". It was made completly with korg ds 10. several songs used 4 nds consoles. all songs that used more than 1 unit were synced thru local wifi. a ruler with 4 stylus taped to it was used in cases of 4 nds units. the performances were recorded thru a belkin rockstar into a zoom h2 handy recorder via 4 3.5 mm cables extended from the units headphone out. no external mixing. the volume sliders and internal mixers were used. It is now available in several stores including itunes (all), napster, amazon, limewire store, emusic, shockhound, lala, rhapsody and amy street (others are not live yet). If you sign up for lala you can keep mchl nrvs for free in your lala account and download for cheap. If you go to amy street the whole album is around $1.50 right now (goes up pennies as people by it).

Using a ds running flickbook i created the first level of my faux video game tentative titled "furiously fast". It took approx 468 sketches on trains and a few bump free sketches at coffee shops and home. there were only effects added, after the first play, because the level is only 19 seconds long. The music and sound effects were made on nintendo ds using little sound dj and the advance slot using music tech pro performer. The only manipulation of sound was volume level mixing on a br-600 recorder.

scratch and the turntablist method

I just finished viewing Scratch the other day. This of course took me in several journeys I will present you with a simple one today, the turntablist method.

Turntablist Transcription Methodology, or TTM, is a notation system for scratching and turntablism designed by John Carluccio (a Brooklyn-based artist best known for the Battlesounds documentary film on turntablism), by Ethan Imboden, and by Raymond Pirtle. It is intended to be an intuitive graphical representation of the movement of a record whilst performing with a turntable, and was originally documented in a booklet form for distribution.

The system has achieved acclaim from a number of recognisable turntablists, and is becoming increasingly accepted as a valuable method for transcribing turntablist music. However, it has not yet seen many compositions released in written format as is the project's intention: only the future will reveal the eventual extent of its usage for this purpose.

Lesser-used systems of turntable notation have been devised by other Turntablists, and whilst they are less commonly available and/or used, they deserve a mention. One example of an alternative system is that developed by composer Raúl Yañez for DJ Radar, which was used to transcribe his Concerto For Turntable and uses traditional musical staves and notes to record the scratches. This system is limited in comparison to TTM, however, as it does not give such clear directions over the many aspects of scratching, such as velocity, direction, and crabbing.

Sludgeon2 is a program that generates melodies on a Gameboy using an Arpeggio-style
interface. It can be run on any real Gameboy and/or Gameboy emulator. Other Gameboy
sound programs, namely Nanoloop and LSDJ, are excellent, powerful programs. However,
both require a great deal of time and button presses just to get any sounds and even more
time and button presses to make significant pattern and parameter changes. Sludgeon2 was
created as a way to quickly generate, play, and modify melodies, particularly for live
performances.














Faderfox Jr:

a Gameboy application that emulates the
functionality of the Micromodul LX1 for the greatest price of all: free. This
application will be comprised of a screen with a matrix of virtual "buttons". In
addition, a Microsoft Windows driver will be made to convert the data generated by
the Gameboy into MIDI data usable by PC applications. The PC Linker Gameboy
port-to-parallel port cable will be utilized to transfer data from the Gameboy to a
PC, where the Microsoft Windows driver will perform the necessary transformations.

This is the second full- length album and i am completely fascinated with the use of melodies and beats. no trackers or software were used and the music has an emotional feel with out letting go of the crowd moving energy and chiptune sound of the previous recordings. Although demand has ceased some of his free music from floating around, it is well worth the money. check out the the first album "video games ruined my life"

Here he explains how he programed all of the notes and sounds and beats and everything from scractch on vintage computers! This guy is a gadget rocker!

The show featured photographs from California, Chicago and northwest Indiana. The wall, of the frequently visited Five Star Thai Restaurant in Crown Point Indiana, was covered with photos taken by the artist over a vacation to California and where she resides in the Northwest Indiana / Chicago region. The talented young photographer has the knack for getting the most out her Olympus camera. Each of the photos takes on it's own identity and would be hard to pick a favorite. From the Marina City photo to the Roosevelt Hotel photo (both pictured in the flyer) or the picture of the sheep shearer to the cowboy. The photos show contrast towards each other and similarities enough to wonder which one is home and which one is away.

Pink Bottom Creations was selling jewelry and soap threwout the night. Jillian provided the guests with wine and vegan snacks. I shot several 3d photos throughout the night. You will need red/cyan glasses to view. Some of the original shots were untouched as well.

little sound dj revisited

LSDJ revisited. I just got out little sound dj yesterday and really could not put it down. It took me 2 grey gameboys and 1 black gb to get it running. The first surprise was the battery still held one of my songs (this is one of the original carts..I have the midi sync cable as well). I pressed play and manipulated the sound, recorded it and reset the memory. I then got out the ds and put testds (lameboy works better) and lameboy on my m3 ds real. I put lsdj on the micro sd card and began playing on the ds -to get the refresher course. First thing i remembered was that song i recorded was supposed to be played in live mode not song mode. I now have a clean slate on the gameboy and plenty of save room on the ds. But the song is gone forever. This led to several thoughts for a live set up and a short film/flickbook of a racecar video game.
